MISSION STATEMENT

The essence of the Dhanbad Public School ethos is reflected in the school motto 'Service Before Self '. Life at the hostel aims at training and motivating students to target academic success and career goals, without forgetting that the ultimate aim is to develop well rounded personalities with sound values, strong character and deep sensitivity. The Dhanbad Public School hostellers move out after 10+2 as young blossoming adults with the social skills, academic expertise and compassion needed to become leaders of tomorrow.

BACKGROUND

Dhanbad Public School has emerged as a shining star on the horizon of educational endeavour. It is set in picturesque surroundings, with the Dhangi Hills in the foreground and lush green fields behind and offers an ideal schooling for children.

Vimla Bansal Girls Hostel is sponsored by Shiksha Vikas Trust, Dhanbad. The Hostel is situated in the main school campus on the Dhanbad-Govindpur Road, Near Bhuinphore Mandir, in a pollution free environment, away from the din and bustle of city life. It is named after Smt. Vimla Bansal, W/O Shri M.P.Bansal, an eminent industrialist who made a generous donation for this noble cause

The hostel of Dhanbad Public School was set up to meet the needs of meritorious students from remote areas of Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal and Orissa, for quality education at the Secondary  and Senior Secondary level. This specific requirement was responded to, with utmost sensitivity towards the cause of education, which is the hallmark of the Dhanbad Public School  philosophy, and gave birth to the hostel in the year 2000. At present, Dhanbad Public School provides residential facilities for girls of Classes VI to XII. Hostel can accommodate 100 students.

The DPS hostel experience inspires students to newer and deeper levels of intellectual and emotional growth. Life at the hostel enables youngsters to communicate with girls whose backgrounds and cultures are different and diverse. It promotes their self confidence and basic skills, that ultimately enable students to enhance and achieve their own aspirations.

CAMPUS & ATMOSPHERE

The Vimla Bansal Girls' Hostel is housed within the main school campus. The 2 storied building provides accommodation to 100 girls. Airy and spacious rooms provide students with independent space for bed, cupboard, study-table etc.There is a provision of a separate Study Room  and one Common Room with Audio-Visual facilities like Newspapers, Magazines, Television,  Indoor Games. etc. Boarders also enjoy  after school hours, the extensive facilities provided in the school for outdoor games, art and craft.

The hostellers avail of some of the finest facilities for sports at the very well-equipped state-of the-art Sports Complex, where they can play games of their choice, under the supervision of expert coaches.

A HOME AWAY FROM HOME

The Hostel is under the care of the resident warden, who keeps a close liasion with the parents through the Principal. She looks after the well being and health of all the girls under her care and is assisted by a full time female helper.

The Principal Mrs.D.A.Chetal takes a keen personal interest in making the hostel as comfortable and happy a place, as any home. She is assisted by two Vice Principals.

 

ADMISSION CRITERIA

True to its commitment to excellence, Dhanbad Public School's Vimla Bansal Girls' Hostels works with the mission to provide education, cultural and social support to deserving bright secondary and senior secondary school students.

Admission is granted to meritorious students, strictly on the basis of their performance. Rooms are allotted to students keeping in mind individual needs, like academic goals and results, as well as emotional strength and socio-cultural background. Admission to the Hostel is granted for 1 year. Hostel fees will be paid in advance for this duration. Fees for Class XI will be paid on admission. Withdrawal from the hostel will result in the student's name being struck off the school rolls. There will be no refund of hostel fees, except for caution money.

Life at the hostel provides numerous social, philanthropic and leadership possibilities. Hostel residents enhance their leadership and organizational skills, through assuming governing roles such as Head Girl and Incharges of Food, Cleanliness, Cultural and Discipline Committees. These Incharges along with Floor Monitors, actively contribute towards making community living a joyful learning experience.
